Lunch at Eight at the Auckland Langham

Had lunch at Eight ,the new restaurant at the Langham today. Such a cool experience. Guests are invited to partake in a culinary journey. At each of 8 stops , named after iconic journeys and destinations , there’s a different cuisine to be sampled.
As I travelled along the Silk Road ( wok and dim sum) , the Spice Route ( Indian tandoori and curries), Tokaido ( sushi and sashimi), Route 66 ( New York style grille) , Great Ocean Road (seafood and oysters), Garden Route (salads) , Champs-Elysees ( pastries, crepes and cheese) and Dessert Road ( desserts of course) it brought back happy memories of journeys taken over the years to distant lands.
The food is exquisite and cooked to order. My garden salad was so prettily arranged I could hardly bear to eat it, my avocado and salmon sushi perfectly freshly made, the buttery mint naan flecked with green pulled steaming from the tandoorie oven was to die for, and the seafood fresh and plentiful.
Could not resist an indulgent dessert at the end. I tried to choose between one of those legendary pink Langham macaroons, filled with cream and blueberrries and some little real fruit jellies with a nutella sugar to dip. In the end I had both!
The surroundings, elegant but relaxed, the staff friendly and courteous. Couldn’t have wished for a better lunch. Plan to go again soon.
And there’s an added incentive. Each time you dine at Eight until April 25th you can enter the draw to win a world trip ( for two) to stay and dine at the other 5 star Langham Hotels in Hong Kong, London and Los Angeles. A foodie’s dream!
